Why should we go on?

Should we go on because of toddlers’ smiles
sunfilled raindrops
fresh dew on healing herbs

Mountain tops to perch and view
Creation’s eye
The sand that meets the rushing waves
Waits patient calm serene
Tide comes and goes
Fast and slow
Making love
to the earth
Watering seeds
that flourish into
Baobab trees

Because of the whoosh-ing
of the original matter
against ear drums
telling stories

Because of light rays giving light into darkness
giving life into stillness
every time
lush green life
deep black life
metals and gems
conducting heat and love force
from beneath wells

Because of gleaming water
with memories
told to our throats
and atoms
Clarity through the other side
of everything
water

Should we go on?

Because of laughter with kin
that makes little sense
but fills the voids
never remedied
by other sounds

Because of innocent young days
of fanatic competition
for affection
Endless solidarity
holding hands with Bliss

Should we go on?
because of love
Because of eternal moments of eye to soul delving
palms transferring love-force
receiving acceptance
and wholeness
fullness

because of kisses to heartbeats that
drum against skin
awakening
every physical ancient spirit lust yearning memory

Because of drum beat percussion ?
Slender arches pelting dusty ground
Winding, rolling full hips
Story-telling sign language praising praying hands

Because of adornments on two thousand year old queens
features of sculpted ancestors coming alive
Kings with provisions
for all of God’s children

Should we go on?
Because of Mother’s sacrifices
and Daddy’s bent-back toil
Sister’s secret keeping and
Brother’s loaded defense

I’ll go on
I’ll go on because of your smile
Whichever realm, whichever plane
your love within, your love sustains.

To know I’ve lived and loved at all
suffices this soul to be birthed again.

Why will you go on?
